Please read carefully – by placing an order with EnTicing Cakes by Christine, either in person or by telephone or email you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

Cake Preparation

All cakes are freshly made on the premises, in a cake-dedicated part of my home kitchen.

All sponge cakes are made nut free, but I cannot 100% guarantee no traces of nuts, as there are nuts held on the premises. Fruit cakes contain nuts only on request, but are covered in marzipan.  Other dietary requirements may be catered for, for example using ingredients not containing gluten or dairy but, as above, I cannot guarantee these cakes would be 100% gluten/dairy free due being made in the same kitchen as the regular cakes.

All cakes are handmade and decorated to suit your requirements, although slight differences may occur with colours and designs due to the nature of the work.  I reserve the right to use my artistic judgement when designing and creating your cake and may need to adjust your order accordingly.   My cakes are bespoke and I can only create the finished article from what I interpret from the wording of the order.

Please note if choosing a design from my website that your cake will differ slightly from those shown.  Each cake is hand-made and hand-decorated and, therefore, unique.  Any cake ordered from a picture or photo of a cake produced by any other cake maker, can only be made as my own interpretation of that cake and will not be an exact reproduction of the cake in the picture or photo.

Any changes to orders must be made at least 1 week before date of collection/delivery; these will be accommodated if possible but may incur an extra charge.

Where possible all decorations are made to be edible. If this is not the case, you will be notified on collection/delivery of the cake.  It is then your responsibility to advise caterers/venues of this fact.

Charges, Collection and Delivery

Celebration cakes/cupcakes etc:

Where possible, orders must be made at least 14 working days in advance.  It is sometimes possible to do cakes at shorter notice, but please note a 24 hour resting period is generally required before baked cakes can be decorated.

All enquiries are welcomed, but please note that cakes are not considered booked in until I have a deposit of 50% of the order cost and agreement of an order form.  The balance will be due in cash on the date of collection, if you have chosen to collect, or two days before delivery.  Cheques are only accepted by prior arrangement.  Deposits are refundable up to 60 days before the collection/delivery date in the case of fruit cakes, or 14 days in the case of sponge cakes.  After that period, the deposit becomes non-refundable as I may already have incurred costs for your order.

Wedding Cakes:

For most wedding cakes, deposits are automatically non-refundable, as I may need to turn away other orders around your chosen date.   Payment in full is required 3 to 4 weeks before the wedding date.  I will notify you when the final payment is due.  If payment is not received the cake will not be made.  If you have to cancel your order for any reason, you will be liable to pay for any special order items, and for any work that has been started. In addition if a Wedding cake is cancelled within 2 weeks of the wedding date the full outstanding balance will be payable.

I prefer three months notice on wedding cakes however I may accept short notice cakes subject to the availability of the date required.

Corporate orders are welcome and potential clients should discuss payment terms in advance.

If between the time of your original enquiry and receipt of your deposit  I am fully booked, I will inform you and return your payment.  Payments at present can be made by bank transfer, cash or PayPal.

All cakes need to be collected/delivered at a time pre-arranged between us.  Changes to collection/delivery times need to be requested as soon as possible and in any event at least 24 hours before the pre-arranged time.  I may not be able to change the collection/delivery time depending on commitments and workload, but will endeavour to do my best to meet with your needs.  Please allow 24 hours for receipt of email correspondence.

If you attempt to collect outside of the pre-arranged collection time and you have not previously notified me, or if I am unable to complete delivery at the pre-arranged time, I will not be held responsible for returning any monies already paid if collection/delivery cannot be re-arranged.  In the case of delivery, an extra charge may be made for re-delivery.

Cakes can be delivered to you, or a venue of your choice and a charge may be made for this service – please contact me for advice.  Any delivery charge advised is payable at the same time as the full order balance is due.

Once a cake has been collected/delivered it is no longer my responsibility and I cannot be held responsible for any damage incurred.

Storage

Sugarpaste is not designed to be refrigerated and as such cakes with this icing should be stored in a cool (not cold) dry place, preferably in the box they were supplied in.  Refrigeration may cause colours to run, icing to become sticky and sugar paste models to collapse.   Once cut, mould a food wrap into the cut edge to keep it from drying out.

Equipment Hire

A deposit is required for loaned equipment, and a charge may be made for the hire – please contact me to discuss your requirements.  If items are not returned by the date due, and in the condition in which they were hired out, the deposit will not be returned.

Publication

I keep a photographic record of every order for reference purposes.  These photographs may be also published on my website/social media and used in future for publicity purposes.  If you would prefer your order not to be used in this way, please notify me.  I will never publish a photograph before the date of the occasion for which the order was made.

Complaints

I hope that you will be happy with your cake(s), however in the event of a complaint please notify me as soon as possible.  Please check your cake on collection/delivery as in some cases corrections or repairs may be made on the same day if I am made aware.  I am not responsible for any mistakes made by the customer, i.e. incorrect/mis-spelt names or incorrect choice of cake.

I take any complaints seriously. Some complaints may require further investigation and an immediate refund may not always be possible. Cakes, or part of cakes, must be returned within 3 days to ensure that I am able to fairly assess the nature of the complaint, and if possible photographs should be taken.  The cake must have been stored at the correct temperature and in the box I supplied, out of the sun and away from damp conditions or heat.   If I agree the complaint is justified, the maximum refund available is the value of the cake and delivery.  Further compensation is not available. I do not refund for customers who have simply changed their mind.
